About Dr. Martínez-González

Miguel A. Martinez-Gonzalez is a medical epidemiologist with 30 years of experience in the fields of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, nutrition and metabolomics. He is the Principal Investigator of the SUN project (prospective cohort with 23,000 participants and mean follow- up >10 years) and was Coordinator of PREDIMED Research Network (www.predimed.es), the first and so far largest European randomized primary prevention trial of cardiovascular disease based on a dietary pattern approach. He was the Principal Investigator of the European Research Council Advanced Research Grant to fund the PREDIMED-Plus trial, an on-going trial with 6,874 participants to assess the cardiovascular effect of an energy- restricted Mediterranean diet with physical activity and weight loss (http://medpreventiva.es/N37jk1).
